The 1st mountain banjo of 2018 was made from a 1930s burl walnut veneered headboard. Im not sure what the base timber is although it looks like its from the Meliaceae family (mahogany).
A gorgeous little left handed mountain banjo. With a 3mm thick aluminium tone ring the little 6" head packs a punch well above its weight. The beauty of wood reclaimed from furniture is its full of surprises. The unique heel came about by utilising the moulded edge of the headboard to give a cool art deco look.
