Experimenting with Richlite

Updated: Sep 15, 2020

The next banjo to complete for 2018 was this English Sycamore and London plane (cut from a tree half a mile away). In order to avoid using ebony for fretboards Im trying out Richlite for this one. A very hard and smooth paper composite and great substitute for ebony the harvesting of which has a long lasting and disastrous environmental impact.

An 11" 3 ply pot made from Maple and an outer laminate of London plane and a London plane rim cap. The neck is a single piece of Ripple English sycamore. The fretboard and peghead overlay are both Richlite.
