banjo heel carving
banjo peghead carving
banjo peghead carving

This is a neck I made for a vintage 10 1/4" pot. Initially I wasn't happy with the neck carving so I put the project on ice for a couple of years until my carving skills improved... then I went to town thinking it would just be a sacrificial practice neck. It turned out pretty well and now its my own fun little banjo. Its made from curly English ash with a walnut fretboard, heel cap and peghead overlay. It has extensive carving on the heel and peghead and brass position markers. with a 20" scale it's somewhere between a piccolo and a pony scale ( I call it a piccolony).
