Appalachian mountain banjo or minstrel banjo?

I wasn't sure whether this was a mountain banjo or a minstrel banjo, so i put it in both sections of the website.

The body of this banjo started life as a set of ornately carved Victorian bellows in rosewood. I received them broken and with a snapped handle. I added a neck, on which i replicated the carving from the pot (top and bottom). The peghead shape is inspired by the shape of the bellows and and carving is copied from the rear panel. The neck was then dyed to match the colour of the pot and then a lot of ageing processes were applied in order the consolidate the whole instrument. A lot of fun to build and a lot of fun to play and a real head turner and conversation piece.
